SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
HARDWARE
Optional Demodulator: Consists of stand alone 8 bit microprocessor
digitizing signal at up to 2560 bytes per second. All signal
processing
is done off line minimizing machine load. The data is downloaded
via
serial port which also supplies the power to the demodulator.
Other options- Sound card version - Requires PC
with 16 bit sound card
PTCII version Requires SCS Pactor II modem.
The demodulator is software configurable to run on USB devices
Optional older demodulator uses RS232 ports COM1 through COM64.
Multiple demodulators can receive multiple
faxes simultaneously through different COM. ports.
SOFTWARE
Weather Fax for Windows is written in Microsoft C++ and thus
integrates itself seamlessly into the Windows environment. Several
months have been dedicated to rigorous system testing on a wide
variety
of different manufacturer's machines.
DOCUMENTATION AND ON LINE HELP
The power of Windows help is used to the fullest here. The
context
sensitive help not only explains every corner of the program but
also has
an in depth guide to the World of Weather Fax. Point to the area of
water
you are sailing in and see the fax stations for that area listed
along with
their frequencies and schedules. In some cases, there are editorial
notes
from sailors who have used the stations. If you have a sound card,
you
can listen to clips from fax transmissions to help you identify the
various
tones to assist you to tune your radio.
We feel that this product will appeal to anybody who has an
existing
DOS weather fax system as well as anybody planning to start out .
It's
functionality makes it the finest computer weather fax system on
the
market.
The added value of the Morse code and TELEX enhances your ability
to
receive weather information in remote locations.
