CONTOUR
PROFESSIONAL DATA COLLECTION MODULE
|
|
Contour
Professional 2002
includes a free preview of our Data Collection Module.
This enables you to collect depth data and send it to
Maptech over the Internet. Maptech will then use your data
to create a custom Contour chart, which will be made
available to you via Internet download. This feature is
especially useful for specific coastal areas where you want
enhanced contour detail.
The data collection service is currently operating on a
trial basis. During this trial period, Maptech will not
charge for this custom chart service. Please note that data
you send to Maptech may be shared with the greater Contour
user community in future products. These conditions,
including service fees, may change in the future.
Technical Notes and Hardware Requirements:
- A
single NMEA 0183 feed containing both position and depth
is required (these may not be brought in via two
separate feeds/COM ports). A single feed can be obtained
by using either a combination GPS/Depth Sounder (such as
a Garmin GPSMAP 168 Sounder) or combining a NMEA 0183
sounder and GPS via a Serial Multiplexor.
- The
PC running Contour Professional must have
Internet/FTP access to transfer collected data and
finished charts to and from Maptech.
- Windows
98 or later is recommended (Windows 95 requires a
service patch from Microsoft).
- During
depth data collection, Contour Professional must
be run "stand-alone." Depth data collection is
not possible when in Split-Screen Mode with Maptech's Offshore
Navigator or Chart Navigator chart plotter.
- Because
of the nature of this feature, Maptech reserves the
right to limit the amount of phone support granted to
customers. We can not be responsible for such issues as
depth sounder configuration, wiring, etc., or the
Internet connectivity of a particular machine.
